Sports Center Rafa Nadal

Location: Manacor, Mallorca

Area: 10.928 m2

Execution: 2016

Colaborador: Luís Herranz, jardineria

Sports centre in Manacor distributed into two parts: the first, a supervised academic space that combines tennis practice and education, and the second, a space open to the public and the city. The outdoor areas and their gardens are intended to convey the distinction between the two environments.

The plants between the buildings are aligned in a way that creates avenues that lead from one space to another. Bushes, which maintain their shape all year round are combined with the different texture of the ornamental grasses. Agapanthus and Limoniums provide colour and intensity. All the garden areas are covered with pine bark for weed control.

The centre has an outdoor garden that is open to the public, with slopes and gradients that required vegetation with a suitable roots system to control run-off. This way, the entire space is blanketed with Mediterranean species of shrubs and creeping plants with contrasting heights, as well as particular staples such as olive and cypress trees.
